The departmental faculty is involved in research in areas like Algorithms, High Performance Computer Networks, Genetic Algorithms, Parallel Computing, Neuro-Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Complex Adaptive Systems, Computational Intelligence and Software Engineering. The department also several externally funded full time and collaborative projects. At present eight students are pursuing their Ph. D. programs.
