Banaras Hindu University Durgotsav Samiti was established in the year of 2004. It was founded by Mr. B. Sarkhel, Department of Anaesthesiology, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU with the help of Prof. Sushil Kumar Sharma, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Institute of Technology, BHU. Prof. Rana Gopal Singh, Department of Nephrology, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU and Mr. Mabud Mallik, Sir Sunderlal Hospital, BHU. In the year of 2004 puja was celebrated in Malaviya Bhawan under the patronage of Professor P. Ramachandra Rao, Ex-Vice Chancellor. In the year of 2005 venue of the puja was shifted to Madhuvan Lawn under the guidance of Prof. S.K. Sharma and Mr. B. Sarkhel. In the year of 2007 samiti was registered under the Society Registration Act XXI of 1860. There are two parts of committee, one is Executive Board whose members are permanent and another part is Organizing Committee which are nominated by Executive Board. Every year samiti celebrating Durga Puja on esteemed BHU campus. Now this function is one important event of BHU as well as in top position of Varanasi city. Samiti is also celebrating Kali Puja in BHU campus since 2006.

Samiti is planning to provide scholarship for poor meritorious children to promote the education. In this connection samiti appeal to all social personnel to cooperate with donation for promoting the education among poor children. Donation can send in favour of “BHU Durgotsav Samiti” and addressed to Dr. S.K. Das, General Secretary, BHU Durgotsav Samiti, Faculty of Commerce, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. If any body is interested for membership please apply in prescribed forms (attached) and send along with cheque/DD for Rs.300.00 in favour of “BHU Durgotsav Samiti” or can send by transfer the money to our Current Account no. 10654905218 (Branch Code 0211) at SBI, BHU, Varanasi under intimation to the General Secretary, BHU Durgotsav Samiti.
