Facilities

Hostel accommodation is provided to most of the students on campus. Dr. S. R. K. Hostel serves the needs of undergraduate students having 120 double seated rooms here 230 boys are presently residing. It has a common room for reading newspapers, Hall with color T. V., a mini library containing various magazines related with different competitive examinations and a separate room having sufficient literature on Swami Vivekanand and other famous personalities of the world for all out development of the students. Beside, there is a big hall for Table Tennis, Carom and Chess. Cooperative messes are solely managed by the students to provide nutritious food to the students. Adequate furnished dinning space is available equipped with water cooler. BGT Hostel which has 204 rooms caters to the requirements of M.Sc.(Ag.) and Ph.D. students. Out of these rooms 104 are single seated and 64 double seated accommodating presently 235 students. Most of the facilities mentioned above are also available in this Hostel. The institute admits fairly large number of girls students and their number is increasing every year.. Presently 60, 17 and 10 female students studying in B.Sc.(Ag.), M.Sc.(Ag.) and Ph.D., respectively reside in Triveni Complex meant for the University as a whole. The efforts are being made to have a separate girls hostel for the Institute of Agricultural Sciences.

Library
Facilities

In addition to the Central Library, there is an Institute Library to cater to daily requirements of text books and latest reference books to the staff and students. The Institute Library has 20,933 books and receives 25 newsletters/scientific magazine/reports etc. in English and 25 Hindi Patrika, most of which are free of cost. It also subscribes English and Hindi newspapers alongwith Employment News. On an average 70-100 students consult library daily. Most of the old books and journals both old and new are available in the Central Library situated opposite of the Institute building. It subscribes 50 International (20 from U.S.A., 14 UK, 7 Canada, 6 Netherlands, I each from Australia, France and Germany) and 70 National journals exclusively for agriculture. The students and staff have access to other common journals subscribes for other institute and faculties. The Central Library  provides with Internet facilities and a large number of research journals international/national are available online. It also has elaborate facilities for photocopying at cheaper rates for the students/staff.

Training & Placement Cell

The quality of education and strong public orientation are key to the Institutes exemplary placement record. During the year 2005-06, ten companies visited this campus and recruited a large number of students. Thus all the interested students passing out in 2005-06 batch as well as those available from previous batches were successful in getting jobs through campus interviews. Last year (2006-07) again, several government and private sector organizations were contacted and persuaded for holding campus interviews in the Institute of Agricultural Sciences giving details of excellent environment prevailing in this great seat of learning and high class teaching and research facilities available at the Institute as well as the achievements of under graduate and post graduate students in various spheres at all India level. The following well established national and multi-national companies of repute organized campus interviews for our graduates, post graduates and Ph.Ds:

The outstanding performance of our students led to campus recruitment of 46 students. Many more appointments are likely to follow soon. This is apart from 28 students selected in banks through various examinations. Looking at the importance of practical training in U.G. teaching of agriculture, 192 summer trainings were arranged for interested students in reputed organizations.
