The Department of Horticulture offers courses at UG, PG and Ph.D. levels in the area of Pomology, Olericulture and Floriculture. Several research projects of collaborative and Ad-hoc nature are in operation, funded by ICAR, UPST and ICFRE. During the last five years, research activities related to increasing yield of fruits, vegetables and flowers formed the thrust area. The research findings are being validated through on farm adoptive research for its promotion and diffusion in the region. The well established labs for carrying out various types of research adorn the department. Propagational and nutritional studies in fruits and flowers, tissue culture & breeding of fruit and vegetable crops and plant growth regulators will be the thrust area of research.

    • Handled 3 projects
    • Research on clonal selection of Poplar, technology development for collection, processing and testing of forest tree seeds and quality fruit production of banana through potassium application were conducted.
    • A tissue culture Lab., a block of medicinal and aromatic plants and mist propagation chamber, nursery to supply elite planting materials and polyhouse for protected cultivation were established.
    • 200 National and 30 International papers. 51 M.Sc.(Ag.) and 30 Ph.D. passed out.
