(In commemoration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahamana Malaviya)

A great patriot, a supreme architect of the temple of learning at Kashi, an eminent educationist, a teacher of teachers, a silver-tongued transcendental orator, an ancient as well as a modern leader, a reluctant but an eminent lawyer, a social reformer, a great human, a torch-bearer of the downtrodden, and above all a great nation builder, Malaviyaji lived for us and future generations. His vision is embedded in its unique architectural layout and its content: a magnificent silhouette against the Gangetic sky at dawn with gothic pillars: Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Mahatma Gandhi called him 'Devata Purush' (Man of God). While inaugurating his 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 27 Dec. 2011, Hon'ble Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh concluded his address by quoting what Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru said about Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviyaji- 'It is fit and proper that we should pay homage to this great man who is the foundation stone of the huge building of Independence.'

The International BHU Alumni Meet (IBAM 2012) and seminar will be held on December 23 & 24, 2012 on the campus of your Alma Mater as concluding part of Malaviyaji's 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations.
