Professor Ram Harsh Singh an internationally known figure in the field of Ayurved was born on January 10, 1942. He graduated in Ayurved, Medicine and Surgery from Banaras Hindu University in 1961. He completed Ph.D. and D.Litt under the supervision of the legendary Prof. K.N. Udupa. Professor Singh is Fellow of the National Academy of Indian Medicine and Jewel Member of All India Ayurved Academy. He was conferred the degree of Doctor of Medicine Honoris causa by Medicina Alternativa, Alma Ata.
Professor Singh has produced over 100 MDs and 35 Ph.Ds under his guidance. He has published 12 important books and 200 research papers in national and international journals. He is on the editorial board of several national journals. Prof. Singh has been the Member of National Commission on History of Science and is on the scientific advisory committees of several national institutions and organizations. He is the recipient of Hari Om Ashram Award, IASTAM Award, Jivak Award of Asian Medicine, Piyus Pani Award, Life Time Achievement and Kasturba Oration Award of MGIMS and Best Teacher�s Award.
Professor Ram Harsh Singh joined the Faculty of Ayurved at Banaras Hindu University in 1964 and served this prestigious institution for 40 years in the capacity of Lecturer, Reader, Professor, Head of the Department of Kayachikitsa and Dean of the Faculty. Later, he joined the Rajasthan Ayurved University of Jodhpur as its First Vice- Chancellor where he played a commendable role in establishing a model institution of higher learning in Ayurved. Professor Singh is the Visiting Professor at Wonkwang Digital University, Republic of Korea and at Mt. Madonna School of Ayurvedic Medicine, USA. At present he is working as Professor Emeritus in the Faculty of Ayurveda at BHU. He has also been nominated National Professor/ GURU in Ayurved by Department of AYUSH, Govt. of India.
Professor Singh has been seriously engaged in revival and development of Ayurved on Scientific lines as an evidence-based system of Medicine. He is also engaged in developing newer courses and programs for need based development of Ayurved in interdisciplinary areas.
Professor Ram Harsha Singh�s efforts in the field of development of Ayurved in global perspective have succeeded in motivating a new generation of researchers to work in this area.
