This Department of History of Art was established in 1950. The Department
had eminent scholars like V.S. Agrawala, Kapila Vatsyayan, S.K.Saraswati
and Anand Krishna as close associates. The department runs special courses
and research in the areas of Indian Iconography, Indian Painting, Indian
Textile and Decorative Arts, Islamic, Western, Himalayan, Contemporary Art,
Central Asian Art, South East Asian Art and Folk and Tribal Art. The Department
runs a Postgraduate Course and Research in Tourism Management.
