Introduction:

The Banaras Hindu University Conducts ‘PET’ ( Post Graduation Entrance Test) during the month of May for the admission to Mass Communication. Admissions will be taken according to the merit in the PET.

Eligibility:

Graduate degree in any discipline under at least 10+2+3 pattern securing a minimum of 50% marks or Post Graduation Degree in any subject securing a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate. Candidates appearing in the Final year of the qualifying examination may also apply and appear in the test.

Reservations:

(i) Seats shall be reserved for scheduled Caste(15%) and Scheduled Tribes(7.5%)
(ii) 3% Seats shall be reserved for Physically Challenged Candidates; Visually Impaired (1%)+ Hearing Impaired (1%)+Orthopaedically(1%)

Supernumerary Seats:

(i) Employees ward: 5% supernumery seats shall be available for son/daughters of permanent employees of the university currently in service or during the academic session immediately preceding the one for which the entrance test is held.

(ii) Foreign National: Provision to the extent of 15% of the seats on supernumerary basis

(iii) Paid Seats: there is a provision for paid seats (not exceeding 10% of the total number of seats) in certain courses, the details of which will be available at the time of admission from the concerned faculty/ department

(iv) Sports seats:-Candidates shall be considered under Sports caregory only an approval from the University Sports Board

Hostels:

Banaras Hindu University provides hostel facilities for the students. They have separate hostels for boys and girls. Students of MA Mass Communication are alloted hostel rooms (2 seater) in “Birla Chatravaas” and “Triveni Sankul” for boys and girls respectively.
Allotment of the rooms will be done as per the PET Merit list index.
