M.A. (Mass Communication)

The Department runs a two year postgraduate degree programme that seeks to provide the students enough of skills, understanding, and analytical abilities to work for various organisations working with communication. The subjects offered are as follows:

  • Introduction to Communication Principles and Theories
  • History of Media and Laws
  • Print Journalism: Reporting, Writing & Editing
  • Skills for Communication
  • Advertising & Public Relations
  • Research Methodology
  • Radio Television & Film
  • Computer Theory & Application
  • Film Appreciation
  • Communication Technology

Specialization / Major Electives:
4 credits X 4 courses = 16 Credits

Students will have to choose any of the following specialized areas each

consisting of 4 courses:

  • Hindi Journalism
  • Public Relations
  • Development Communication
  • Television, Radio, & Film
  • Media Administration/Management
Minor Elective / Allied Discipline:
12 Credits


Students will have to take courses from the allied discipline to enhance their

knowledge and broaden their canvas.
 

Dissertation:
8 Credits


The dissertation will have to be done in the last two semesters consisting of

Dissertation Proposal Writing and Report Submission.
 

Internship:
4 Credits


The internship will be of 8-10 weeks in any Media/Public Relation/Advertising

organisation during the semester breaks.

A Report of Internship will have to be Submitted.

Ph.D.

The Centre offers a Ph.D programme for students and media professionals who would like to further increase their academic qualifications. Scholars interested in areas of media studies, Journalism, Cultural studies, Film studies,Community Medicine etc. can register for the Ph.D programme at the centre.
