Department of Paediatrics

Highlights of the department:

The construction of a separate Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Building has immensely benefited neonatal care. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Pediatric Emergency Unit (PEU) have been upgraded with the installation of latest sophisticated equipments.

Besides academic achievements, the department acclaims it position nationally for having conducted many research projects under the sponsorship of various agencies like - United Nations University, Tokyo; Indo-Swedish Collaborative Project, Sweden; Royal Commonwealth Society for the Blind, UK; Ford Foundation, USA; UNICEF, ICMR, CSIR, Department of Science & Technology, Nutrition Foundation of India, Department of Biotechnology, etc. The department has also been actively involved in many national health programmes like control of endemic goiter, acute respiratory infection, diarrhoea, high risk IUGR babies, iron deficiency, growth, nutrition, maternal anemia etc.. The department has the credential to bag above 35 awards and distinctions for its outstanding researches in various fields. The faculties have published about 400 research papers in national and international journals of repute.
