Clinical Statistics of the department

A whopping 11,700 patients are seen in a year in the out patient department and the numbers are growing each day as this is the biggest and the most trustworthy institution catering the needs of the entire of eastern UP, northern and central Bihar, part of West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Nepal. About 600 admissions are made each year. On an average about 350 patients are operated every year under general anesthesia in the routine theatre and approximately 850 operations are done under local anesthesia and regional blocks. Emergency input is formidable and about 240 major and 300 minor surgeries are carried out each year in the emergency theatre.

The OPD attendance of the department had an increase. The admissions and operations maintained its previous level in 2009. The bed occupancy was 89.06% in plastic surgery ward and 89.86% in burn unit.
