Banaras Hindu University has a rich tradition of learning arising out of dedication to the highest goal of mankind. Well known academicians and scholars gave up lucrative careers to serve on the faculty of this university and to be a part of Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya's mission. At the time of the foundation ceremony of the university. Mahamana had said: "It is my earnest hope and prayer, this centre of life and light which is coming into existence, will produce students who will not only be intellectually equal to the best of their fellow students in other parts of the world, but will also live a noble life, love the country and be loyal to the Supreme Ruler."
At Mahila Mahavidyalaya, the teacher-taught relationship rests strongly on Mahamana's ideal. It has on its faculty a team of scholars dedicated to the vision of Mahamana. In addition to academics, teachers take active interest in the all round development of the young minds placed under their supervision and care. For postgraduate teaching and research the faculty works in synergy with concerned departments in the Banaras Hindu University. They are members of important academic bodies. Many research projects are conducted by the faculty. They have published widely in journals of national and international repute and have distinguished themselves in various fields. Some of them are well known creative writers. Presently sanctioned Mahila Mahavidyalaya faculty strength is 104.
