ADMINISTRATION:
Serving as Chairman of Press Publication Publicity Cell of Banaras Hindu University was responsible for projecting the positive brand image of Banaras Hindu University at National and International scenario by highlighting the Administrative Reforms, Academic Reforms and Research Priorities and Reforms Undertaken during 2006-2009(cont..).
Successfully handled as Chairman of Press Publication Publicity Cell the Media, Publicity, Press of BHU by Planning and execution of national and international coverage of important and VVIP visits of Honorable President of India (Smt.) Pratibha Devi Singh Patil , Honorable Prime Minister of India Prof Manmohan Singh, Honorable Vice President of India Shree Bharion Singh Sekhawat , Chancellor of BHU Dr Karan Singh jee. The opportunity was used for projecting the Brand Image of BHU at National and International scenario.
Due to these projection in Press, Media, through important publications and magazines and other platforms the University was ranked first in the country by Principal Scientific Adviser, GOI, IT was ranked 7th among top 50 Government Engineering Colleges in the country (Outlook, 11th June 2007, ). The Faculty of Law ranked 14th while the Institute of Medical Sciences ranked 15th among top 25 law and medicine colleges, respectively (India Today, 4th June 2007). Among three Central Universities in U.P. BHU is rated at a much higher level (Outlook in Hindi, 25th June 2007).
Serving as Coordinator of M.Sc Plant Biotechnology successfully started the new course of M.Sc (Plant Bio technology) at Rajiv Gandhi South Campus by admitting 30 students of first batch. Successfully planned and executed, the course curriculum of Plant Biotechnology after getting it passed though Departmental Council, Faculty and Academic council.
Successfully presented and executed the proposal of establishment of Rural Technology Action Group (RuTAG) Center for Uttar Pradesh with the support of Office of Principal Scientific Advisor of Government of India Vigan Bhavan , New Delhi
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:
Over 20 years research experience in field of Maize Breeding and Biotechnology (Molecular Breeding), Rice/Hybrid Rice and Sugarcane Breeding and Crop Genetic Resources.
Successfully completed about 15 projects with total outlay of about 5 crores of national and international importance.
Developed and Released 16 crop varieties of rice and maize of national importance. (MAIZE VARIETIES: Vivek Maize Hybrid 5, Vivek Maize Hybrid 9, Vivek Maize Hybrid 15, Vivek Maize Hybrid 17, Vivek Sankul Makka 11, Vivek Baby Corn I VL, Maize Hybrid 23, VL Maize Hybrid 21, VL and Maize Hybrid 19. RICE VARIETIES: Malviya Basmati 1, Malviya Dhan 3022, Vivek Dhan 84, Vivek Dhan 154, VL Dhan 207, VL Dhan 208 and Vivek Dhan 85 )
Successfully initiated and executed biotechnological programmes at VPKAS, Almora (ICAR Institute), Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, (ICAR Institute) and BHU Varanasi. Initiated programmes on Mapping of Quantitative Trait Loci for Northern Corn Leaf Blight (NCLB) in Maize and Molecular Marker Aided selection for Quality Protein Maize (QPM) and MAS for red rot and top borer in Sugarcane etc
TEACHING EXPERIENCE:
