(A) GNR Memorial Lecture: The
name of the speaker of the G.N. Ramachandran Memorial Lecture will be
announced when a final decision in this regard is available.
(B)
Awards:
1. Ratna Phadke Award: The
Award carries a cash prize of Rs.1000/- and TA (train travel by II AC class).
The nominations for the award may be forwarded by the Supervisor with an
abstract of the presentation and biodata of the nominee (for Research Fellows
or PDF/RA/Pool Officer) or by the Head of the Department (if the nominee is a
faculty member but below 35 years of age) to the Convener of the Symposium.
The candidate, who is selected for the award will be asked to deliver an oral
presentation during the Symposium. For this purpose, the selected candidate will be informed at
least 15 days prior to the Symposium.
The candidates who want to be considered
for this award should make a request to this effect, and should fulfill the
above-mentioned requirements.
2.
Poster Awards: The following awards will be
given for posters: (i) D.M. Bose Award, (ii) N.N. Dasgupta Award, (iii) N.N.
Saha Award, (iv) A.R. Gopala Ayengar Award, (v) K.S. Korgaonkar Award.
(C) Special Session: Prof
D. Balasubramanian, a distinguished Biophysicist and a past president of the
IBS, will be reaching 70 years. There will be a special session of the
symposium in his honor.
