Department's resources including library, laboratories and academic/ research facility

Beginning in the early 1960s, the Department began diversifying its teaching and research programmes to cover wider and the newly emerging areas. Since then, it has made rapid progress and has today become academically one of the most active and advanced Departments of Zoology in the country. In general, the academic focus of the department is to provide a good training in different areas of basic Zoology through high levels of teaching in class rooms. A major emphasis is on hands-on training in diverse current laboratory methods to B.Sc. and M.Sc. students. The department has always focused on quality research in diverse areas of Zoology. Keeping in view the high levels of research activity, the Department has been recognized as Centre of Advanced Study in Zoology by UGC and it also received support from UGC under COSIST and from DST under the FIST programmes.
