The Faculty of
Sanskrit Vidya Dharam Vijnan imparts ancient learning in traditional as
well as modern patterns. The main objective of the Faculty has been the
preservation and development of the ancient and traditional treasure of
knowledge. It consists of eight Departments, namely Vaidic Darshan,
Veda, Vyakarana, Sahitya, Jyotish, Jain Bauddha Darshan, Mimansa
Dharmashastra and Dharmagama. It has a publication wing of its own
through which the Faculty publishes a number of books and a research
journal entitled 'Sanskrita Vidya'. It offers a 3 year Shastri (Hons.),
a 2 year Acharya and research programme in eighteen subjects alongwith 1
year Certificate course in Sanskrit and 2 year Diploma course in
Dharmagama. Students of the Faculty get free education and hostel
accommodation with basic amenities. It periodically organises seminars
and conferences. The Faculty publishes "Vishva-Punchang"
regularly. It has a galaxy of eminent scholars. Some of the members of
the Faculty have been decorated with honors like Padma Vibhushana by the
Govt. of India.
